TIME AT THE BOYS HOMES - ALWAYS ONE OF OUR FAVORITES

Thursday, April 25, 2013 - Reconnecting

First went to visit with Tami and Patrick and their baby orphanage. WE had been texting back and forth for a day. We showed up at their place and where told by the guide that they moved. And they moved down by Peter and Selpher (way down in lots of traffic)  We will have to reschedule that one. Then we headed to Wanna Wa Mola. Wanna Wa Mola is a boys home.  A place where they find boys on the street and bring them.  Teach them about God and they all love music. They had a few boys that just came in the day before.  We had such a great time making paper plate tambourines with them. We gave them cazoos and then we talked with them about how God loves them and he loves knows each of their names. We gave them each a cross necklace and we wrote their names on it.  The boys were so patient and were so well behaved. It was such a good time.

Car troubles.   Then we were about the leave and the car wouldn't start.  That was the second time that happened today. We dropped the big van off for repair and were borrowing a friends little car for a few hours will it was being repaired. We couldn't get the car started. Paul had to come on his motorcycle and help us. But, in the meantime we got a chance to see the boys just play and be normal boys. Some were doing gymnastics for us.  We noticed Mark. He, we found out, had just arrived the day before. It would not smile. He seemed to want to jump in but was afraid. We reached out to him a few times and in the end we were able to leave him with a book.  He was working so hard on learning to read. We had Shadrack, a boy that was their last time and who is going throughout his school sharing the Gospel and having bible study with the kids there, read the book to him. It was cool to see him lighten up a little bit at least.

Then we were off after and hour or so to one more boys home. The owners of the Neptune, the hotel we stay at when we come with Fox River support and orphanage for boys. Similar to Wanna wa Mola. We did not think it had any Christian influence as I do not believe the owners are Christian.  So we were going to share with the boys there similar to the boys at Wanna Wa Mola.  The boys at this home had been there for a long , long time.  Some since 1997. They actually help them through with University as donations allow. That is amazing work. They are still working on funding of some of the boys for University.

We read our King Cherish story together. IT is a story of Adam and Eve in the garden, through Jesus coming to save us in 13 pages.  Each boy read a page and then we talked about what it meant. We were amazed to see that all the boys labeled themselves as Christian and the manager did as well.  We had such a great time encouraging them and talking with them. We gave them visor hats, cards talking about God loving them, and a few other things. Then we broke into our own areas and they wrote out their stories for us to take home with us.  Some of them drew pictures for us. They so enjoyed that time or writing. They asked us a few questions and we left them with more paper and a set of markers to continue to write and draw.  They did not want to stop.  The boys asked us for bibles so we are arranging to get them bibles from the Gideon guy, Mike we meet at the airport, and who goes to Crossroads church in Nyali.

Then we ran to the Nakkumat for snacks and food.  We don't eat during the day except for little snacks so we were running out.

Then we meet with Vicki to discuss options in a few situation on guardianships and/or adoption. It was a little nerve racking hooking up again after the way things were left last trip, but it went very well.

Then we came back home to set up for tomorrow and our first princess party and the other schools to make sure we are all ready.  Also had to clean the house as Jim is coming home today from South Africa and it is his birthday. His office was a mess with all of our supply suitcases so we cleaned up all we could so it wasn't so much of a mess.
