December 3, 2010 - New projects

Sorry it's been awhile.   Life has been pretty hectic.    Getting all the photos and bios done for Fox River's Gift for Jesus this December and then we had a death of someone so I have been helping a close family with that.   It was the death of a parent of a 12 year old so a lot of emotional and other issues to deal with.   This are going well there, but please send a pray.

God has been leading me to do a run/walk to raise money for the well that is needed in South Coast where they are greatful for dirty water.   Kristen would do a similar run/walk on the same day in Kenya.  
Kristen and I are also working with Rotary Clubs here in WI and also in Kenya to raise money. 

If you know anything about either of these things, please let me know I really don't have any experience in either of these areas.   

I have also compiled a listing of financial resources available for people interested in International Adoption - if you know anyone that could benefit from that, please let me know and I can email it to you.

kids at the free school in Bomani - see earlier posts. Kids al received new shoes and were very excited.  Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Today we were off to Vipingo, the red/maroon school to do the activity day.   When we youngest do activity days we break the kids into 2 groups.  The smallest three groups of kids and the biggest three groups of kids.  We have an outside large motor activity, a craft/inside activity, and a bible lesson activity.  The biggest kids act out the bible story in really fun ways.   Examples of large motor activities have been basketball, kickball, volleyball, baseball,  hip-i-t-hopes (balls you sit on a jump up and down on), sack races, ring toss, bowling.   This year we did a volleyball type of game I think. THINGS ARE FINALLY FALL INTO PLACE

Wednesday, May 1   KENYAN LABOR DAY - public holiday We had the meeting for people interested in working as volunteers with the pregnancy crises center today. It was a good turn out for a public holiday and we have some very key people that came and we are looking forward to getting the trainings going.  Good turn out and very engaging discussion on how to approach the prevention issues and other things. Got a chance to look through Jane Jalani's paperwork and talk with here about how to structure the paperwork for this venture and that went very well.  I forgot to mention on Sunday, we got a chance to meet someone that has the same vision of building a pregnancy crises center in Bamburi, an area just outside Mombasa.  It is in the same county as Mombasa. She already has a start of a building. She has the first floor just about finished and we would like to add two more floors. RUNNING ON EMPTY - no sleep!

APRIL 2013 blog 9th trip to Kenya with Laura Danbrea, Sue Huerta, and Carrie It was hard to leave this time with relationship problems with Brooklyn and Josie.  It is also hard because I was just gone last Wednesday through Sunday on a trip with Brooklyn to San Diego for choir. 4/19/13 - Friday Chris and our friend, Darrell helped us to airport. That was the most "exciting" time of the travel. We hit very bad traffic at airport waiting in line for one hour or more with cops coming through the crazy traffic. It was so bad that a man started walking down freeway in the inside emergency lane with his suitcase rolling behind him.  It we didn't have 11 suitcases I would have loved to do that as well. Some of the streets up to that point were flooded in Chicago. It was right around 7 pm when we arrived in that area.
