TIME TO
RECHARGE
Sunday,
June 24, 2012
Got up late,
through was up at 5am originally, got out of bed at 8:15am. Pam and I headed right down to the ocean with
her journal and my morning readings.
Such a relaxing time and place with the Indian ocean being so beautiful
and just awesome. It’s high tide so can hear waves like you’re in the ocean.
Then ate
breakfast with the quieter part of the group which was nice. Then off to church at Crossroads Nyali. It is a church just like our church, Fox River
in the states, contemporary through Fox River is at least 10 times louder with
their music, it's not your normal church.
That was great to see lots and lots of people I knew there and to
recharge.
I knew I
needed some really quite time with God so I stayed back Sunday from Bomani so I
could reconnect and recharge. I worked
on the blog, I read a book, and got a massage from my amazing better than ever
friend Joy.

SECOND
BIGGEST TAKE AWAY OF THE TRIP
Today we
were off to Bomani, to squeeze two days into one. Activity day with the kids improvised as we did not have all of our suitcases still and
building a mud hut in the community of Bomani.
We
learned a lot from our lost luggage. We were without a lot of suitcases until
the last few days of the trip. Some people did not get their luggage back until
several weeks after we got back home after lots of phone calls. Though it was not fun, the group realized how
it was not that difficult to go without all that they brought along that they “needed” to bring from home. It was an eye opener how much we over-back
and how much we can really do without. We also had most of our activity suitcases that
we brought with things to do with the kids and teachers that were lost. Because
of that, we reorganized the trip in a way that made more sense and we will
continue to do our trips in that format. Also we realized that it is not all that
we bring with us that is important, it is the love from God that we bring in
our hearts that is most important. The stuff is extra. This was a good
reminder.
